Ring in the New Year...

Recently, I created one of my favorite frames of all time. It's easy to feel this way because of the story behind the frame.

Katie, from Ohio, shared, '"Blessings" is actually the name of the mountain cabin that my parents were able to purchase this year.  It has always been a dream of theirs to have a small cabin in the mountains and they were finally able to accomplish that."

May every day of 2011 bring you and your loved ones multiple blessings. Happy New Year!

    Gator Bride Review :)

My work was recently reviewed by Miss Gator of www.gatorbride.com. Enjoy... I certainly did!

You know I love me some handmade artwork. Throughout the wedding process, Mr. Knight and I have tried as much as we can to buy handmade items through local vendors. When buying handmade, not only are you getting an item which is (at times) completely custom but, you are also supporting an Artist (and their art) and usually getting a better deal over factory-made items (which is always a plus!).

This past week, I met with the very talented handmade artist, Carolyn of Framed Letter Art. She makes fully customizable art of words (like married couples’ new last names, childrens’ names, inspirational words, etc) from photographs of letters inspired by architecture and nature that she’s taken from across the United States. *all images (minus my own!) are from Carolyn’s Blog, Framed Letter Art

“Love” is the first piece Carolyn ever made, and it was for her Mother, how sweet!

A “Gators” framed letter art? Love it!!!! Perfect for us Orange and Blue lov-ahs!

Loving this black matte, really makes these  photos ‘pop’!

How cute would this be hanging in a baby’s or child’s room?

As you can see, Framed Letter Art is not only a great wedding gift to a newly married couple, but also a great baby shower, housewarming, graduation, birthday, or ‘just because you’re awesome‘ gift.
Carolyn was kind enough to send Mr. Knight and I a piece of her artwork, customized to our new family last name. Can you guess it from these letters?

How gorgeous is that? So clean and modern!

Even Gator Kitty approves of Carolyn’s Framed Letter Art!!!

Isn’t that “S” amazing? Love it!

The craft of the overall piece was impeccable. The frame was well made, and the high-quality, crisp photographs were beautifully matted. This piece would be a beautiful addition to any home or as a gift for the person who has everything.

I had a chance to sit down with the lovely Carolyn of Framed Letter Art and she was kind enough to answer some questions about her work for my readers!

What inspired you to start your own framed letter art company? My Mom’s 50th birthday was quickly approaching last May and I was tired of wandering aimlessly around the mall for a present I wasn’t sure she would love. Then, one day I was taking photographs around Florida and spotted something that looked like the letter “o” through my lens. I figured if I could find one letter, others were probably out there. When my Mom’s birthday came around, I was able to give her the first frame I made. It spelled “Love” and it was exactly how she felt about her present.

For what occasions have you made these for? Framed Letter Art has been created as a gift for weddings, new babies, birthdays, and graduation presents to name a few. People have also requested frames for housewarming presents, anniversaries, and to spread words of encouragement.

How many letters can you fit in one frame? As of today, I’ve made frames with up to nine letters. However, I believe I would be able to fit up to 11 letters in a frame.

What are the available matte colors, frames, etc? Most of my creations come in a black frame with a white mat, but there could certainly be opportunities to upgrade both the frame and the mat color. Mats come in almost any color you can imagine; although, the black or white mats really make the photographs “pop”.

How long, from placing my order, is my beautifully custom art in my hands? Depending on the shipping location, frames can be expected between 10-12 business days from receiving payment.

    Going to the Chapel...

With another wonderful wedding season just around the corner, I've realized there are two types of guests... those scrambling around last minute attempting to find a gift and those who have no idea what to buy for a couple starting a new chapter in their lives.

Instead of wandering through the massive department stores, why not purchase a personalized gift your loved ones will truly treasure?

The frames I create can be customized to meet your needs. For more information, please email me at framedletterart@yahoo.com .

    Just a few FAQs....

Did you take all the pictures yourself?
Yes, I did. Most of the pictures are from Florida, but a few were taken in Arizona, New York, and North Carolina.

If I were to purchase a custom order, how long would it take to get my frame?
You would receive the frame about a week after the order was placed.

    What other options are available?
While I do not print photographs in anything other than black and white or sepia tone, a color mat can be requested. Black mats really make the letters pop (see "Inspire" a little further down). Pastel colors may be a subtle change from a white mat.

A custom frame is probably so much more expensive than an already made frame, right?
I know sometimes when we hear the word "custom" our minds go directly to multiple dollar signs. However, when you purchase a custom frame (someone's name, a special word, your favorite team, etc.), the price for your frame is the same as the frames I've already created.

For more information, please email me at framedletterart@yahoo.com.

    A-B-C... It's Easy As 1-2-3

    Or is it?

    Ev
ery now and then, I meet a teacher whose passion and motivation absolutely blows me away. We've all had these teachers before- they're the ones that continuously encourage us to keep going when we can't find the solution, the ones that lead us in the right direction, the ones that genuinely care about their students and their profession.

In my life, I've been lucky enough to have met three of these educators- Dana Peterson (my first grade teacher- Spring Hill, FL), Melissa Forney (Does she really need an appositive?) and Julie Rowley (my former supervising teacher- Orange County). These women are amazing and I wholeheartedly believe they were born to inspire others.

    I created
this frame for Melissa Forney, the Writing Guru, because she truly is an inspirational teacher.
